Eszopiclone is a nonbenzodiazepine hypnotic which is slightly effective for insomnia. Eszopiclone is the active dextrorotatory stereoisomer of zopiclone, and belongs to the class of drugs known as cyclopyrrolones. Eszopiclone acts on benzodiazepine binding site situated on GABAA neurons as an agonist.
