Simvastatin is a statin drug, alipid-lowering medication. It is used along with exercise, diet, and weight loss to decrease elevated lipid levels. The drug is in the form of an inactive lactone that is hydrolyzed after ingestion to produce the active agent. As all statins, it acts by inhibiting 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl coenzyme A reductase. In March 2012, the FDA updated its guidance for statin users to address reports of memory loss, liver damage, increased blood sugar, development of type 2 diabetes, and muscle injury.

We have successfully synthesized impurities of the Simvastatin. This will be of interest to pharmaceutical companies and analytical labs.
